Professional In-Home Pet Euthanasia & Pet Memorials
Servicing Cold Lake, Bonnyville and Surrounding Areas

My Story
Welcome to Rainbow Crossing
My name is Dr. Megan Macleod and as a pet owner myself, I understand the heartache that comes along with making the decision to say good-bye to a beloved companion. Rainbow Crossing In-Home Pet Euthanasia Services in Cold Lake, Alberta, strives to offer compassionate pet euthanasia services, tailored to provide comfort and peace during the most difficult time of being a pet owner.
My in-home journey began in 2025 when I lost one of my own furry companions and helped a dear friend with the passing of her own pet. My focus is delivering expertise and care to families facing the painful loss of a beloved friend. I provide full-service euthanasia, aftercare cremation options as well as custom momentos such as ink and clay pawprints and other keepsakes.

In-Home Euthanasia
What to Expect
I will arrive at the scheduled time and discuss what to expect in detail before getting started. Once the necessary forms are filled out and payment is completed, an injection of sedative medications is given to allow your pet to relax and fall asleep. Once your pet is fully relaxed, I will place an IV catheter and give another medication that will make them unconscious, followed by the euthanasia medication.

Please note that I do not offer appointments on an emergency or overnight basis, all appointments will be scheduled in advance.

How do I know when it is time to say goodbye?
This is an extremely difficult and very personal decision which varies with each pet parent and also each pet. There are many subjective quality of life assessments to be found online. These can certainly be helpful in making the decision of when it is time to say goodbye to your pet.
Your regular veterinarian is an excellent resource and they can perform a quality of life assessment and discuss with you if euthanasia is the right choice for your pet

Mementos
At Rainbow Crossing, I offer special mementos such as keeping fur samples and ink paw and nose prints from your furry friend. For the fur, I shave a small amount of hair and place it into a glass vial. For the ink, you can decide if you want paw prints, nose prints, or both. I apply a small amount of ink to the paw or nose and make several imprints onto a piece of paper for you.
These are only provided at time of euthanasia service.

If you choose that you would like an urn, I have urns and many other memorial items you can browse at your own pace at Pet Memorial Options (sold separately).
