Rainbow Crossing
Professional In-Home Pet Euthanasia Servicing Cold Lake, Bonnyville and Surrounding Areas

My Story
Welcome to Rainbow Crossing, my name is Dr. Megan Macleod. As a pet owner myself, I understand the heartache that comes along with making the decision to say good-bye to a beloved companion. Rainbow Crossing In Home Pet Euthanasia Services in Cold Lake, Alberta, strives to offer compassionate pet euthanasia services, tailored to provide comfort and peace during difficult times. My in home journey began in 2025 when I lost one of my own furry companions and helped a friend deal with the passing of her own pet. My focus is on delivering expertise and care to families facing the painful loss of a friend. I provide full-service aftercare, including private and communal cremation options, along with custom keepsake momentos such as ink and clay pawprints.

I will arrive at the scheduled time and discuss what to expect in detail before getting started. Once the necessary forms are filled out and payment is completed, an injection of sedative medications is given to allow your pet to relax and fall asleep. Once your pet is fully relaxed, I will place an IV catheter and give another medication that will make them unconscious, followed by the euthanasia medication.

Please note that I do not offer appointments on an emergency or overnight basis, all appointments will be scheduled in advance.

How do I know when it is time to say goodbye?
This is an extremely difficult and very personal decision which varies with each pet parent and also each pet. There are many subjective quality of life assessments to be found online. These can certainly be helpful in making the decision of when it is time to say goodbye to your pet.

Your regular veterinarian is an excellent resource and they can perform a quality of life assessment and discuss with you if euthanasia is the right choice for your pet

In-Home Euthanasia What to expect.

You can choose to have me handle after care of your pet for you or you can choose to handle it yourself.

After care options include:
- Private cremation. This means your pet will be cremated alone and ashes will be returned to you in a silk scatter bag.
- Communal Cremation. This means your pet will be cremated with other pets and no ashes will be returned to you.
- At Home Burial. This means that you will arrange to bury your pet at home if this is allowed. Your pet must be at least 4 feet underground.

Please contact for pricing as it is weight and option dependent

If your pet weighs more than 50 lbs, I would ask that someone at your home be available to help me transfer your pet to my vehicle for transportation.
